Everyone can interpret it in his or her own way but what is the perfume of life?
Some people may say it’s unpleasant to smell at times; Some people may say it doesn’t come in a bottle; and some people say it shouldn’t cost money.
A father comes to his castle from a day of hard labor, greets his wife with a big weary smile, and hugs her. There’s a day of sweat and toil emitting from him.
His darling wife loves that smell. He’s a linesman and works in a dangerous job everyday. She’s just glad to smell his perfume of life.
It’s a hot sunny day and the sun’s rays on the hard surface of the dark road, and the rain comes and the unique smell comes from the ground. I believe that’s the perfume of life.
I remember my teenage days, when I didn’t use perfume or colognes. I was very much into soccer and too grown-up to admit to that.
But when I walked into my mother’s kitchen may God bless her soul, I smell all the spices that I have purchased before I went to the game. Saffron, Cinnamon, couscous, and Charmoula mix for the Sardines that for me are the perfume of life.
The birth of my children Almaz and Amir is by far for me one of the best perfumes of life I have experienced, when I held them just minutes from when they were born, and I could smell innocence, freshness and loving smell, that’s the perfume of life.
My Father may God bless his Soul died at the age of 93 and I had the privilege to be with him a week before he passed away, he has a perfume of life of his own, which I can’t explain, it’s musky and its aged, it is wisdom of years of life. It’s a perfume of life humble and honest.
Time and time again our guests sit down, and you hear them say “it smells good in here”. It could be cinnamon, saffron hair or the fresh aromatic sense of mint tea in the air. With my humor, I always say, “It’s my aftershave”. But in reality it’s the perfume of life at Afous.
As humans, we are too engaged with our lives to take notice. If we just take few minutes from our days, we will experience a whole world of perfume of life out there.
But everyone is busy, and there’s no time to register life or life’s perfumes.
